yes you can.

now i just got done complaining about being fat, so now i will talk about doing something about it. the wood river triathlon is a great event. you can do it. it consists of a 1/4 mile swim(in a pool, you can put your feet down and not drown), followed by a 12 mile bike ride(flat course so not to hard)followed by a 4 mile run(same course as the bike). Most people who don't do any thing like this are worried about the run. just start small and work your way up. i just started running again and i started with a mile and a half. that is farther than i would start some one new at. at first just try to jog for 3-5 minutes without stopping, then walk at a brisk pace for a while after that. ride about 5 miles the first couple times out and start working your way up to about 12-15 miles. really not hard if you pace your self. don't worry how fast you are. speed will come in time. your just need to sign up. pay the money($40), and your committed. the reason that is important is that now you have a specific goal to achieve by a specific time. goals are very important. even if your not even close to being able to doing it now, if your start now and keep working you will be able to do it. it's not easy but you have no one to beat but your self(they stagger the start, no one knows what your time is until the race is over). there is a strong sense of achievement when you finish. don't think you can't. you can. i will help you. i actually know how to get in shape(yes i still know round is a shape), and prepare for a race. i'm no professional, but have asked a lot of question a figured some thing out over the years. what you will find, i think, is that once you grow accustomed to exercising, you will miss it when you don't and wander why you didn't start sooner.

A personal Question, If you enjoy excercise and being healthy, then why have you let yourself go?

Bruce's problem is that he lacks the motivation to go and work out if there is not a race (and someone to beat or be beaten by) in the months ahead. He's a terrible yo-yoer. He'll work out like a mad man up to race time, but when it's over he "takes a break" that ends up lasting until next year. What I've found that really helps me is my running group. If you're listening out there, I MISS YOU my running buddies! (Currently too pregnant to be able to run, but I still torture myself quite regularly, not to worry). I don't however miss the extreme fatigue that used to be my life every Tue and Thur from getting up at 4:30.

renae is close to the rite answer. although liz is a littly bit rite too. renae is closer. part of my prob is that i don't set a new goal for myself after wood river tri is over. wood river is a big focal point of my training and i want a break after its over. well a one week break turns into two. two turns into a month, and then we get to deer season and my drive to be in the woods overcomes my drive to work out. then im well on my way to being out of shape and befor you know it its march and ive hardly started working out. and that is when fat and lazy takes over.

i was actually just kidding. my own personal opinion of bruce is that he is SOOOOO social minded a person, that if he doesn't have a goal, OR somebody to work out with, it's not worth it to him. even the goal is social oriented because he must have someone to beat, ergo the goal is usually a race. am i anywhere near the mark? of course i am. i am ALWAYS right. ;)

not acually. i mean there is some truth to what you said but i usually work out alone, at least i usally run by my self any way. as to the race, it is a social event and i love it, but i would do them even if i did not know any one in the race, eg mattoon 1/2 max. last year the only person i know in the race was my dad and i wasnt trying to beat him, i just wanted to finish. i do like it when i beat people though. havent done much of that but its cool when it happens.

whatever. you know i'm right, and everyone would be alot happier if they would just reconcile themselves to that. it would save time and arguing...ect...ect...
